Community Care Connections
Behavioral Health
In 2017, Community Care established a Behavioral Health Program, led by Chief Medical Officer for Behavioral Health, Kevin Junkins, MD, General Psychiatrist and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. Based in Bridgeport and Weston, the program was established to work together with the Pain Management Program, as well as providing behavioral and mental health services to CCWV patients.
Clinical staff include psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, physician assistants, licensed therapists, masters level therapists and case managers. Their goal is to work with other CCWV programs to provide comprehensive care to our patients.
In 2018, CCWV launched its School Based Behavioral Health Program which works specifically with county school systems to provide much needed mental health services to students. The first program was established in Braxton County and CCWV now serves Upshur, Lewis, Clay, and Harrison County Schools. Also in 2018, CCWV partnered with Braxton County Schools to implement a SAMHSA approved mental health prevention program the PAX Good Behavior Game. In 2019, Lewis County also added the PAX GBG and then in 2020, Upshur and Clay County implemented the program. PAX GBG teaches children self-regulating skills and identifies children that need tier two and three mental health interventions. The program has over thirty years of positive outcomes.
Throughout 2021 and 2022 CCWV has expanded its behavioral health program and offers in-person services in its Upshur, Lewis, Braxton, Harrison, and Clay County locations and offers telehealth services to Pocahontas County and other rural areas.
For more information about our services, talk with your CCWV provider or call (304) 848-5770.
