BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WV News) — Joined by the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce and other local officials, Community Care of West Virginia held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newest location in the Charles Pointe development in Bridgeport Friday morning.
With the new facility coming online recently, Community Care of West Virginia has 19 community health centers, 50 school-based health sites, nine pharmacies and one dental office in the state.
Trish Collett serves as the chief executive officer for Community Care of West Virginia and has been with the company for nearly 25 years.
“Personally, it’s amazing to see this site come to fruition. We have grown from one medical facility in Rock Cave, West Virginia (Upshur County) and now have 19 primary care facilities,” Collett said. “This isn’t the first time we’ve opened a big office like this, and to be able to work with the people from Bridgeport really made the whole process a lot easier. The renovation work to transform this building took a while, but we have a wonderful facility here and I am so proud of all the people at Community Care who helped with this important project.”
The new facility will help meet the needs of the immediate area.
“We opened a facility in West Milford in 2007, so we’ve been here in Harrison County for quite some time,” Collett said. “We had an office across the interstate at White Oaks for some time, but those operations have been moved to this location.”
The nearly 23,000-square-foot building will house a pharmacy, behavioral health services, addiction medications, urgent care for walk-ins, and primary care services. The facility will be open seven days a week throughout the year with the exception of Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter holidays.
Harrison County Commission President Susan Thomas was on hand for the ribbon cutting Friday morning.
“This is pretty exciting for Bridgeport and for Harrison County,” Thomas said. “The people who live here at Charles Pointe will have easy, convenient access to medical care and a pharmacy. I believe the economic impact will be based on the amount of employees they bring in here and the amount of foot traffic they drive. These employees here make good money, and they will be spending some of that right here in the county.
“I think a facility like this, along with Mon General breaking ground next week across the other side of (W.Va.) 279, is a great thing for county residents especially the eastern end of the county as well as Marion County and people living in Shinnston,” she added. “It will be a benefit for all of us.”
