PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST (BRAXTON, LEWIS, UPSHUR)
Position Title:  Peer Recovery Support Specialist 
Reports To:  Director of Addiction/Recovery
Location: Braxton and Lewis counties
Salary: Based upon qualifications

Job Objective:
The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals in sustained recovery from addiction and/or mental health issues, through education and coaching, focusing on self-sufficiency, development, maintenance of skills, and stabilization of symptoms that present as barriers to success. Further, have the ability to provide hope and encouragement, as well as share personal recovery experiences and develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships with the clients.
 
Position Responsibilities/ Essential Duties:
  • Engages individuals in healthy, professional relationships focusing on communication skills, boundaries, listening, empathy, and respect in an understanding and compassionate environment.
  • Submits accurate progress reports and paperwork in a timely, legible manner, reflecting the clients’ functioning and progress towards his/her recovery goals.
  • Collaborates with treatment team about clients’ strengths and accomplishments in relation to their recovery goals.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor and/or leadership to keep them abreast of activities, plans, and concerns.
  • Works, functions, and actively promotes the goals and mission of CCWV.
  • Organizes or participates in community or CCWV meetings and committees as appropriate or as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and privacy standards.
  • Visits community resources with clients to assist them in becoming familiar with potential opportunities. 
  • Provides hope and encouragement to support clients in their recovery.
  • Acts as an advocate for the needs of the consumer. 
  • Promotes the use of natural supports and resources within the community.
  • Supports consumers in achieving the resiliency and recovery they want.
  • Participates with the treatment team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Provides 24/7 on-call services, as needed.
   
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Self-identity as a current or past recipient of mental health and/or substance abuse services, active in recovery for a minimum of two years.
  • At least one year of positive work experience.
  • Obtained a passing score on the IC&RC Peer Recovery Support Specialist examination.
  • Possess certification as a Peer Counselor OR obtain certification within six months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License with no infractions.

ADDICTION PSYCHIATRIST (BUCKHANNON)
Position Title:  Addiction Psychiatrist 
Reports To:  Chief Medical Officer
Location: Buckhannon
Department: Addiction/Recovery 
Salary: Based upon qualifications

Job Objective:
The Addiction Psychiatrist will evaluate medical and psychosocial conditions; develop and implement treatment plans, including prescription of psychotropic medications; monitoring and evaluating treatment results.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
  • Evaluates patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; ordering laboratory test and evaluating results.
  • Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
  • Treats patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress towards goals with patients; providing instructions; monitoring effect of medications; supervising staff provision of services.
  • Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses and other health care providers.
  • Improves staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.
  • Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events; writing summaries.
  • Teach, take continuing education classes, attend conferences or seminars, or conduct research and publish findings to increase understanding of mental, emotional, or behavioral states or disorders.
  • Prepare and submit case reports or summaries to government or mental health agencies.
  • Provide the collaborative documentation for service delivery including treatment goals, progress notes, and billing and submit said documentation as specified by set standards. Maintains complete and accurate records and reports regarding patients’ histories and progress, services provided, and other required information.
  • Promotes positive inter-department cooperation. Willingly participates in applicable committees or task forces, demonstrates a positive behavior in identifying and resolving complex or out of policy operation problems.
  • Telemedicine services will be provided by licensed and credentialed behavioral health providers who are full/part time employees or have a current contract with Community Care of West Virginia, Inc. The clinical care will be provided within the scope of their license.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of Community Care of West Virginia (CCWV) and the facility.
 
Education/Qualifications/Experience:

Education 
  • Medical degree from an accredited school and licensed to practice in West Virginia.
  • Fellowship in addiction medicine
 
Qualifications
  • Board certified or board eligible in addiction psychiatry. 
  • DEA certificate and WV Controlled Substances registration.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and fingerprint national background check.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a DATA 2000/Buprenorphine Waiver
 
Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience working with both mental health illnesses and substance use disorders, preferred.
  • Experience working directly with individuals who have chemical dependencies is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing, Self-Management and Patient Engagement strategies.
  • Experience with Medicare and Medicaid population, insurance providers and telephonic engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with an underserved population.
